FAQ

About RAYCREA™ Film

Q. Is light guiding and light emitting possible with other than acrylic panels?

A.

Light guiding is also possible with glass. When laminated to float glass, there is a color shift and light attenuation compared to acrylic panels.
You can see an image of actual light emissions with the acrylic panel and glass on the RAYCREA features page.

Q. Is it weather-resistant?

A.

It is currently limited to indoor use.

Q. Can it be applied to curved surfaces?

A.

Laminating on two-dimensional curved surfaces is possible.

Q. What sizes are available for sale?

A.

By joining multiple sheets of film, it is possible to cover even large areas. The seamless film is approximately 1 meter from the light source. You can see an image of the seams of RAYCREA film on the RAYCREA features page.

Q.What is the thickness of the film?

A.

It is 0.5mm or less. For detailed physical properties of RAYCREA film, please download the "Basic Specifications" from this form.

Q.Can it emit light in any shape?

A.

The film can be shaped into any form, and various expressions can be achieved depending on how it is laminated to the light guide. Please see the RAYCREA features page for actual processing examples.

Q.What happens if I apply the films to both sides?

A.

It emits light from both sides, but the amount of light is attenuated significantly. We recommend applying it to one side.

Q.Can it be used in combination with other films?

A.

Depending on the material of the films, but generally it can be used with them.

About Lighting Specifications

Q.Is there a specific requirement for the installation location of the light source?

A.

Due to the structure of the film, the direction of light input is limited.

Q.How long is the light guiding distance?

A.

With acrylic panels, light guiding has been confirmed up to about 2 meters from the light source (the luminous effect may appear weak due to the light distribution). In addition, a film seam will occur at about 1 meter from the light source due to the manufacturing process of RAYCREA film. You can see the images of the seams and light guiding of RAYCREA film on the RAYCREA features page.

Q.Can the luminescence color be changed?

A.

It is possible to change the color of the acrylic panel by changing the color of the light source since it emits light of almost the same color as the light source. You can see an image of color emission on the RAYCREA features page.

Q. Is the brightness adjustable?

A.

The brightness can be changed by adjusting the output of the light source.

Q.Is there a recommended light source?

A.

Any LED line lighting can be used. Our samples use the following products. Additionally, a DC 5V cable and a remote control are required to turn on the light.
"BTF-LIGHTING WS2812B LED tape light 5050 SMD RGBIC 144LEDs/m Black PCB IP67 Silicone tube, waterproof"

Q. Is the light from the surface lighting uniform?

A.

Light usually diminishes as it get far from the light source. You can see an image of the light attenuation on the RAYCREA features page.

Q.Is there any difference depending on the thickness of the light guide?

A.

The thinner the light guide, the stronger the light emission. We recommend thickness of 10 mm or less.

Q. What is the difference from other surface lighting?

A.

Due to the characteristics of RAYCREA film, the lighting has directional properties.
It is characterized by its high transparency when the lights are off and by the directional properties of lighting. For more details, please see the RAYCREA features page.

Q.Does Nitto only provide film?

A.

We will be providing either a film or a laminated panel as a sample.

Q.Does this film work as a projection surface?

A.

There are no functions specific to projectors. It can be used in combination with a projector screen.
