FEATURES of RAYCREA

Developed by Nitto, RAYCREA is the light control technology
enabling new forms of light expression.

It can be used as light guide plate lighting by simply applying it to transparent glass or acrylic panel.

"RAYCREA" is a transparent resin film with microvoids.

It is possible to light up transparent plates emit light across its surface by attaching the films to glass or acrylic panels and installing a light source at the edge of the panels.

Compared to other light guide plate lighting, its high transparency is also a feature.

[ Features ]

Duality and Transparency

One side of the panel with RAYCREA film shines and the other side is transparent. When not emitting light, both sides are highly transparent.

When emitting light, one side shines while the other side keeps transparent.

Light Distribution Control

The microvoids in RAYCREA allow for control of light direction, resulting in varying brightness depending on the viewing angle. This enables the ability to brighten specific areas where light is needed.

It can emit light in the direction of 30° (upper figure) and perpendicular (lower figure) to the surface.

Flexibility

As RAYCREA is a film, it is highly flexible and can be applied to curved surfaces such as bent boards.

Flexibility can be utilized to realize curved surface emission.

Large Area

With Nitto unique RtoR manufacturing method, RAYCREA films can be applied to large areas.
*RtoR: A technology in which a roll of film is continuously unwound and film is formed while it is being wound up.

It is possible to illuminate an area larger than a person.

Can Be Shaped into Any Form

As it is a film, it can be cut out and allows for making only specific areas where it's applied to glass or acrylic panels glow.

It is possible to process and illuminate complex shapes such as QR codes.

Color and Motion Effects

Faithfully reproduces the color (spectrum) of the LED. Additionally, by individually controlling LED chips, it is possible to create stripe-like lighting on the surface. When emitting light, one side shines while the other side remains transparent.

It is possible to project various colors and movements onto the surface by combining it with controlled color light sources.

[ Application Examples ]

Light Guide Distance

With the acrylic panel, light is guided by about 2m while keeping the light source color intact. As light attenuates further away from the light source, it's possible to improve uniformity across the surface by introducing light from both top and bottom.

This is a case where LEDs are installed at the top and bottom to allow light to enter. (*There is a seam in the film at the center in the height direction.)

Appearance of Acrylic Panels and Glass Panels

With acrylic panels, the light source color is guided as is. With glass plates, it is recommended to use highly transparent glass because color shifts and attenuation are likely to occur in the case of float glass.

This is an image of the light when using a 200 x 300 mm panel.

Layer

RAYCREA is highly transparent and can be used in multiple layers. Various expressions are possible with combinations of light sources and shapes.

By layering four RAYCREA panels and controlling the LEDs at a constant speed, you can create an exciting experience that has never looked before.
